MG Windows Director Mark goes through ups and downs in the name of charity!

June 19th saw Mark Russell, Co-Director at Northampton’s MG Window Systems complete the gruelling National Three Peaks Challenge, climbing England, Scotland and Wales’ three highest mountains within 24 hours, to raise funds for charity.

MG Windows is a member of both the VEKA Approved Installer Scheme and the glazing industry’s leading installer support organisation, Independent Network, which – along with many others – sponsored Mark in his quest, raising a total of more than £1,500.

Mark explained: “The funds will be split between Cancer Research and the Old Northamptonians RFC Benevolent Fund – a charity set up to support those who require financial assistance to partake in rugby, whether it be for kit, fees, rehabilitation from injury; you name it! Each year, club members undertake a Chairman’s Challenge as part of our fundraising activities and, this year, the Three Peaks Challenge was put forward. Together, we raised more than £12,000 for the fund.

“I was thrilled to receive so much support for the challenge! Besides sponsorship, Independent Network donated a specially made t-shirt for the journey which, as you can see from the photo, was perfect attire for the weather conditions! It’s great that they support companies with more than just their business – it really adds to a community feel within the organisation, where everybody wants their peers to succeed.”

Colin Torley, Sales and Marketing Director for The VEKA UK Group added: “Many congratulations to Mark on completing the National Three Peaks – it’s an unforgiving challenge and, so, really says something for his dedication to the worthy causes he supported. The VEKA UK Group is honoured to have been able to offer its backing, and Mark should be incredibly proud of his achievement.”
